Le Rallye Dakar est un rallye-raid marathon, créé par Thierry Sabine et lancé pour la première fois en décembre 1978. Depuis lors, il a été disputé chaque année, sauf en 2008, entre la fin décembre et la mi-janvier sur une durée de deux à trois semaines.
